In Memoriam On April 19, 1995 at 9:02 A.M. (CDT) a terrorist bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building killed 168 persons, injured hundreds of others, and brought a shocked nation to the downtown streets of Oklahoma City in sympathy and horror. To Americans all over the nation this was not some distant tragedy that happened somewhere else, it was like it had happened in their own town. To Oklahomans, that feeling was total. With a population of only 3 million, it seemed that everyone in the state had some kind of personal connection to those directly involved. In our case, one of the victims who died in the bombing, Lanny Scroggins, went to high school and graduated with my wife. So when we started a rubber art stamp company two years after the bombing, we wanted to do something to commemorate the tragedy and keep alive the memory of all those affected by the bombing and all who provided rescue or support. Our first stamp, "WE REMEMBER", seen on the start page, is used almost daily by us. Every piece of mail that goes out from our home or office has this image stamped on it. The other two stamps are used for cards and other applications and can be found in our "Oklahoma" catalog section. Proceeds from the sale of these commemorative stamps are divided between the Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation, and the Lanny Scroggins Memorial Scholarship Fund. For a "WE REMEMBER" lapel pin (stamped and laminated) send a self addressed, stamped envelope to: Oklahoma Stamp Art Co.
For more information on the bombing, visit the extensive Daily Oklahoman web site covering the tragedy.
